Tips When Traveling with a Baby or Toddler
Traveling with a baby or toddler can be scary, especially if it’s your first time. You can’t stop worrying about possibilities and the thought that the baby might not stop screaming during the flight. Of course, there are those people you need to consider too, that’s why you need to prepare a lot to ensure that your worries will be lessened somehow.
As the parent of a young passenger, it is imperative to keep the number of connecting flights to a minimum. If you book a flight with a connection, schedule extra time (like two to three hours), on the ground between flights. Before your flight, make sure to visit the restroom first to check your baby’s diaper. Buying a separate airplane seat for your child is perfect too. Although children under two typically fly free, it gives your family extra room to spread out and relax on the plane.
Keep your baby buckled. It is the safest place for a baby or toddler on an airplane, especially if unexpected turbulence occurs. You should also double your baby’s necessities like your bottles, formula, diapers, baby food, or snacks on the plane. Remember, unexpected events happen, and it’s better to be ready than sorry.
Don’t forget to also pack extra change clothing for you and your baby in case of an unfortunate blow out mid-flight. Earplugs should also be prepared to protect your baby’s ears. Lastly, keep your baby happy with distractions. A happy baby means a smooth flight for you and the baby.
